"Words" is a radical short film of an emotional poem. The director and writer, Allison Paoni, longed to incorporate colorful smoke and choreography to convey the deep emotions being heard. I had been the sound designer for this radical, spoken word short.
Because of the smoke bombs being used, I hadn't been able to capture clean production sound on set. Everything heard below was done in post-production. Since there are so many strong elements throughout, I wanted to keep the soundscape simple but still powerful. The voice punches through the smoke as the dancers become one with the colorful haze.
